The Cozy Corner Difference comes from a commitment to providing high-quality, personalized care in a warm, nurturing environment where every child is valued. To follow are examples of what sets Cozy Corner apart from other licensed child care centers.
At Cozy Corner, I truly believe that children flourish in a smaller, more personal environment. That's why Iinstead of having eight children attend, I intentionally limit enrollment to a maximum of just seven full-time children - typically six enrolled children plus my school-age son. This allows me to truly know each child's personality, interests, strengths, and individual needs while providing the time, attention, and encouragement they deserve every day. With a small group, children enjoy more one-on-one interaction, individualized learning opportunities, and stronger, more meaningful relationships with both their caregiver and friends. They spend less time waiting for assistance, receive more guidance during play and learning, and benefit from a calm, nurturing atmosphere where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. Smaller group sizes can also help reduce the spread of illness, minimize overstimulation, and allow conflicts to be addressed quickly with gentle guidance and support. For comparison purposes, Wisconsin's licensed child care center ratios allow one teacher to care for 4 infants, 7 children ages 18 months to 2½ years, 8 children ages 2½ to 3 years, 10 children who are 3 years old, 13 children who are 4 years old, and up to 18 children over the age of 5. While every program serves families differently, many parents appreciate the individualized attention, close relationships, and family-like atmosphere that a small-group home child care program can provide.
Having over 30 years of experience in the child care field has brought me a wealth of knowledge, patience and confidence. Families can can feel assured knowing their child is in the care of someone who has dedicated over three decades to care, nurture and educate children in every age and stage of development. Over 13 years as a licensed center in good standing, you can feel confident that your child is safe with me. As a parent, I understand that it's difficult to trust someone to care for your child. My track record can hopefully ease that worry.
Families deserve child care they can count on. At Cozy Corner, I understand how important reliable care is for working parents, which is why I strive to provide a dependable program built on consistency and open communication. Each year, families receive a calendar with all planned closure dates well in advance, allowing you to make arrangements with confidence. Thanks to my strong work ethic and commitment to the families I serve, unexpected closures are rare and only occur when absolutely necessary. My goal is to provide not only exceptional care for your child, but also peace of mind for your family.
I strongly believe that a professional yet personal relationship with enrolled families plays a key role in every child’s success. At the heart of this relationship is open communication, which is why I use the Brightwheel app to stay connected. This childcare management app allows parents to receive their child’s daily reports - including meals, potty times, naps, photos, and videos. It also gives access to lesson plans, monthly newsletters, menus, and activity calendars. Parents can message me directly, check their child in and out, complete and upload documents, and pay tuition - all within the app. The best part? It’s completely free for all Cozy Corner families!
One of the greatest gifts a child can receive is the security of consistent, loving relationships. In many larger child care centers, it's not uncommon for children to experience numerous teacher changes throughout their early years. At Cozy Corner, families can enjoy the comfort and stability of knowing there is no teacher turnover. Your child will build a lasting relationship with one trusted provider who will celebrate their milestones, understand their unique personality, and support their growth from their very first days in care until they are ready for school. Even after graduation, many Cozy Corner families stay connected through visits, updates, and special events, allowing those meaningful relationships to continue. My hope is to become more than your child's caregiver - I hope to become an extension of your family, providing a place where your child always feels welcomed, loved, and remembered.
A clean, healthy environment is essential for children to learn, play, and thrive. At Cozy Corner, I take great pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness every day. EPA-approved products that are safe for use around children are used to clean and disinfect toys, learning materials, high-touch surfaces, bathrooms, and common play areas on a regular schedule. The environment is kept organized and uncluttered to promote both safety and purposeful play. During times of illness, cleaning and disinfecting routines are increased to help reduce the spread of germs and protect everyone in care. Families can feel confident knowing that every effort is made to provide a safe, healthy, and welcoming space where children can explore, learn, and grow.
At Cozy Corner, I believe that strong relationships begin with honesty, clear communication, and mutual respect. Before enrollment, every family receives a comprehensive Parent Handbook outlining all of my policies, procedures, and expectations. I believe there should never be surprises or hidden rules - everything is shared openly from the very beginning so families know exactly what to expect. From tuition and scheduling to illness policies, safety procedures, and daily routines, each policy is designed to create a consistent, supportive environment for both children and parents. My goal is to build a partnership based on trust, where families feel informed, respected, and confident that their child is receiving exceptional care in a program that values transparency every step of the way.
At Cozy Corner, I believe the best learning happens when children are engaged, curious, and having fun. That's why my program thoughtfully blends theme-based, educational activities with plenty of child-led play throughout the day. Weekly themes and hands-on experiences introduce children to letters, numbers, colors, shapes, science, nature, art, music, and early literacy in meaningful, age-appropriate ways that help prepare them for a successful transition to school. Just as importantly, I believe play is the foundation of childhood and one of the most powerful ways children learn. Through imaginative play, building, creating, exploring, and interacting with others, children develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, language, self-confidence, and emotional regulation. They learn to cooperate, negotiate, make decisions, and navigate friendships—skills that are every bit as important as academic readiness. By balancing purposeful learning with plenty of time to play, Cozy Corner nurtures the whole child, fostering a lifelong love of learning while allowing children the joy of simply being children.
At Cozy Corner, healthy eating is an important part of every child's day. As a proud participant in the 4-C Food Program, families can feel confident knowing their child is served nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks that meet high nutritional standards and support healthy growth and development. Meals are thoughtfully planned to include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and dairy while also introducing children to culturally diverse, kid-friendly foods that encourage adventurous eating and healthy lifelong habits. Whenever possible, meals and snacks are home-cooked and prepared in a clean, safe, and licensed kitchen with the same care and attention I would give my own family. Participation in the food program also means my kitchen, menus, and food preparation practices are reviewed through regular monitoring visits, and I complete ongoing annual nutrition and food safety training. This ensures I stay current on best practices and continue providing meals that are both nourishing and enjoyable. Mealtimes at Cozy Corner are about more than just eating - they're opportunities to learn, build independence, practice table manners, enjoy conversation with friends, and develop a healthy relationship with food in a warm, family-style setting.
One of the greatest benefits of Cozy Corner is our mixed-age environment, where children learn and grow together much like they would in a family. Siblings have the opportunity to spend their days alongside one another, creating special memories and providing comfort during the day. Older children naturally develop leadership, patience, empathy, and nurturing skills as they help and encourage their younger friends. They take pride in being positive role models, learning the value of kindness, responsibility, and inclusion. Younger children benefit just as much by observing and interacting with the older children. They are exposed to richer vocabulary, problem-solving skills, social manners, and age-appropriate independence. Watching older peers accomplish new tasks often inspires younger children to challenge themselves and build confidence in their own abilities. Most importantly, the children at Cozy Corner form genuine, lasting friendships that often feel more like family than classmates. They celebrate one another's accomplishments, comfort each other through difficult moments, and learn to respect and appreciate each person's unique strengths. It is a place where every child belongs, feels valued, and experiences the joy of growing up in a caring community filled with love, encouragement, and meaningful relationships.
At Cozy Corner Child Care, your child will be welcomed into a warm, loving, home-like environment where they are valued not just as a child in care, but as the unique individual they are. Every child is accepted for exactly who they are and encouraged to grow, explore, and shine in their own special way. Here, cuddles are never in short supply, little fears are soothed with comforting hugs, tears are gently wiped away, and "I love you" is spoken often. Every day, your child will be seen, heard, supported, and deeply cared for. My greatest hope is that each child leaves Cozy Corner knowing they are important, capable, and unconditionally loved. When children feel safe and secure in that love, they develop the confidence, resilience, and independence that help them thrive- not only here, but as they take the exciting next step into their school years and beyond.
