Curriculum

Infants & Toddlers

Throughout the day, each infant and toddler receives physical contact and individual attention such as being held, rocked, talked to, sung to, read to, and taken on walks inside and outside the center. Cozy Corner places emphasis on making play a learning experience. Routines related to activities such as eating and diapering are used as occasions for language development and other learning experiences. When a non-mobile child is awake, the provider changes the child’s body position and location in the rooms periodically. Non-mobile, awake children are placed on their stomachs occasionally throughout the day. Non-walking children who can creep or crawl are given many opportunities each day to move freely in a safe, clean, open, uncluttered area. Infants and toddlers are encouraged to play with a wide variety of age-appropriate toys, objects and materials, and are taught sign languge at an early age!

Don't want to worry about bringing supplies? Cozy Corner offers an optional Product Program for your convenience!

Preschoolers

Cozy Corner takes pride in offering each child a wonderful education while in care. Lesson plans are created from monthly and weekly themes and are taught on an individual basis according to the child’s age and ability. Activities are planned so children can feel good about themselves, develop language and literacy skills, gain strength in small and large motor development, learn new ideas and skills, use their imagination, and be exposed to a variety of cultures. Throughout the course of the day, children will also be given free choice time where they can choose their own activity. Enough time, age appropriate materials and space will be provided for children to actively explore the world around them. Children will have an opportunity to use a variety of math and science materials, manipulative toys and housekeeping equipment, as well as partake in activities such as group time, arts and crafts and even gain hands on learning through educational worksheets! Due to the small group size, children soar accademically while at Cozy Corner!  They will also learn needed life skills, receive an increduble amount of love and make forever friends!

School Age children

During the school year, children attending in the morning will follow the morning schedule of the center, including breakfast if desired. Children who attend in the afternoons will be offered a snack upon arrival from school (approximately 4:15 p.m.), and then either be able to participate in regular daily routines or work on homework if wished by the parent. On days off of school and in summer, children are to adapt to the daily schedule of the preschool children with the exception of a nap period. During this period of time children are offered quiet activities, games, projects, and possibly an additional outside time. With an exciting summer curriculum, each day is full enough to keep children occupied and happy while learning, but relaxed enough to allow them to use creatiity and imagination. Spirit Weeks, Bike Days, Splash Days, and Adventure Days add to the summer fun! Materials, toys, games and activities are scaled to each child's age and ability.
